November 9-12 Meeting Featured Lt. Colonel Allen West

The November meeting of the South Florida 9-12 Project featured Lt. Colonel Allen West, Republican candidate for Congress in Florida district 22.

Colonel West (US Army, Retired) was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia and is third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. His parents instilled in him a very basic principle, love of God and Country. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school for one year. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.

Colonel West had the crowd on its feet as he encouraged us to pay attention and get active, that “those who do not participate in politics will be ruled by lessor men”.

The meeting was held in the Old Wellington Mall and was attended by upwards of 100 members and guests.

I brought a large “campaign donation” vase and petitions for Colonel West to get on the ballot and was very pleased with the results. Thank you 912ers for your donations, it takes a lot of money to run a campaign and candidates like Allen West need our financial backing to succeed. Support your local candidate.
Good idea for money making to support a campaign might include a 912 group “yard sale” and it would be fun to do.
