Conservative Activists Show Clout in West Palm Beach

In a story by George Bennett of the Palm Beach Post, the activities of our 9-12 Project and the South Florida Tea Party leading up to changes in the county Ethics Ordinances are highlighted.  He points out that although the groups were formed to address national issues which may not be resolved for some time, it is on the local level where we have seen some results.

Our coalition partner Meg Shannon from South Florida Tea Party got interviewed by the New Times.  Read HERE.

  1. Very fair article. I am pleased Mr. Bennett made the effort to research and verify our raison d’etre. His representation of what we have all worked so hard for in the South Florida 9-12 should be some some cause for us to be grateful.

“The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away,” as they say LOL. I never laced on my gloves prepared for the press to understand, much less believe in, what Shannon and I wanted to help other citizens accomplish locally. So while I could care less about accolades as a driving force: We take away these precious hours from our 3 children for the sole reason of THEIR future in America. Pure and simple, that’s why we’re here, and that’s why we won’t go away.

I am, however, EXTREMELY grateful for the hard work that gained the notice of George Bennett and the Palm Beach Post. It has been nearly 10 months since Shannon laid down her credit card one night to start a new Meetup.com page to attract other couples, families, and individuals who wanted to watch an upcoming “special episode” of Glenn Beck with us in a local restaurant in Lake Worth. Our initial goal: Enough people to fill the back room at McKenna’s Place, which had enough seating for up to 25 or so.

    Over 400 people came LOL.

And MY life… Shannon’s life… and hopefully, YOUR life in some way… has not been the same since. Last December, many progresssive-minded Liberals in America (and some honest, if not ill-informed, voters) cheered an historic election cycle, entering the holiday season with naive “HOPE”…

Twelve months later, here we are as patriotic CONSERVATIVES in America, with “HOPE” of our own under our Christmas trees and menorahs: Sleeves still rolled up – but we smile. Though “That leader” never came in our name… WE DID.

“WE”… never knew we had it in us. Thank God we’ve found each other. Let’s commit to finding MORE of us in 2010, more locals who remain isolated with the same feeling of doubt in Washington DC and our County Government that WE did before locating each other with God’s grace…

***A NOTE TO 9-12 MEMBERS: I *URGE* YOU TO WRITE A LETTER TO (OR E-MAIL) YOUR COMMENTS TO THE PALM BEACH POST c/o GEORGE BENNETT. LET HIM KNOW YOU APPRECIATE HIS FAIR JOURNALISM ON WHAT YOU AND I BELIEVE IN. THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE. BE PROUD OF YOUR SOUTH FLORIDA 9-12 GROUP!***

We will have a big fight on our hands to change Wexler’s area to a conservative candidate , with all the N.E. Condo Commies that live there!

The Broward County “New Times” weekly also gave both groups mention. Meg Shannon. Operations Director for South Florida Teaparty was with us at the meeting with Karen Marcus.
