Austin Parris Joining Forces With Tami Donnally
Fellow 9-12ers, I made this announcement at the REC on march 10th, and a couple of you were well aware of this on Sunday if I spoke to you about it. This is definitely happening, and I want to make it clear that nothing was promised to me in return for my support, and in fact this was a proactive decision on my part to give a combined team a better shot to win in 2010.
For the majority of this election cycle you have seen me defending education, our youth, and their involvement in the political process both directly and indirectly. I can go on the record as saying that I am an ardent defender of “the future”, whether it is promoting a better education system for my generation and those that follow us, or it’s putting my foot down on my generation’s behalf and asking this current generation to change the direction in which this state and overall our country is heading. I invoke the words of the current musical lyricist Matisyahu when he writes that young people must “slam their fist on the table and make our demand”, and it is with that intention in mind that I proudly make the announcement of a formidable partnership that will shake the foundation of the democrat stronghold in District 85.
I would seem that I am withdrawing from this race, but in reality I am not withdrawing so much as I am lending my strengths to help make a great candidate that much stronger. Tami Donnally and I will be partnering together, after I make my official withdrawal, to win District 85 and put it back in the hands of people like us who care about the future of Florida, and can instantly make a difference. I will be stepping on as her unofficial policy director/legislative research hound, something in which I take great pride as to my proficiency and I believe that by taking this step to help her, Tami can now focus on campaigning and we can move forward to win District 85 and make a better future for our children.
I will also be submitting my application to the REC to become a committeeman after finding out that we will be moving to more direct precinct representation so that I may still be here and carry on the task to which I feel I have been assigned by a higher power.
I urge you to join me in working with Tami to bring a more conservative presence to our District and our State, because now more than ever the 10th amendment is our best ally to stop the intrusions of the federal government in our lives at a time when they’re at their worst. Do not neglect the state, for it is our best weapon to stop Congress and the White House when they overstep their constitutional bounds.
