Nova Southeastern University Panel Discussion — “Coffee or Tea” at Steele Auditorium, May 11th, 2010 at 6:30pm
A few weeks ago, I was approached by Antonio Fins, the Sun-Sentinel’s Editorial Page’s editor, regarding a panel discussion he was looking to put together in May between representatives of the tea party and coffee party movements. His working title is “Coffee or Tea? Are the ‘parties’ fads or fixtures in American politics?” The goal is to have an open discussion of what the two sides believe and whether they are here for the long haul. The Steele Auditorium — on the Nova Campus — holds approximately 200 people, and the event will be open to the public. As presented to me, the format will be two representatives from each viewpoint — coffee and tea — with a 5th panelist being a political science professor from Nova University, and the entire event being moderated by Mr. Fins himself. While I have no idea who the two representatives from the coffee party will be, I found out this evening that the second panelist from our viewpoint will be Danita Kilcullen of the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party Patriots. For those of you who don’t know her, she is a military mom who has been organizing a weekly protest every Saturday in Fort Lauderdale for 60 consecutive weekends. If you can make it, please come out and support us, but leave your signs at home — they won’t be allowed in.
