Candidates Collect at 912 Event in Palm Beach Gardens
A good size crowd of new and old 912 members gathered at the Original Pancake House on Northlake Boulevard to hear from the candidates in the upcoming elections. After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegience by Mathew Kenney, 912 Founder Shannon Armstrong spoke about the need to get involved with the candidates and to make sure to vote.
Fred Scheibl reminded everyone about the TAB coalition, of which South Florida 912 is a member. TAB (the Taxpayer Action Board) is a collection of grassroots and civic groups whose mission is the reduction of county spending down to sustainable levels. TAB will be holding a September 2 public meeting at the Lantana road branch of the county library to discuss its proposals prior to the next County Commission budget meeting on 9/14. Some commissioners and constitutional officers are expected to attend. Please come and show your support!
The candidates who spoke at the event included the wife of Tom Whatley (School Board district 3), Francisco Rodriguez (House district 83), Pat Rooney (House district 83), Carl Domino (Senate district 25), Lowell Levine (School Board district 4), Andy Schaller (County Commission district 6), Tami Donnally (House district 85), a spokeswoman for Bill McCollum (Governor), Sharon Merchant (Senate district 27), and Nancy Cardone (House district 83).
