Elections are Over so Now What ?

Come out and hear:

  • Reflections on the campaign by some of the candidates
  • A look at the results – did we make a difference?
  • Ongoing projects – a TAB update
  • Ideas for action

We need volunteers – follow the Florida Legislature, track the school board, scrutinize the Congress during the lame duck session, then tell us about it in future meetings and on the website.

Indeed, some much-needed changes are on the horizon but please do not let
anybody fall into the trap of complacency and begin celebrating a victory
that has yet to take place or fall back into political apathy thinking
everything is now going to be all right.

At the Federal Level, we DO have some great new representatives on their way
to DC but as you know the new representatives do not take office until Noon
on Monday January 03, 2011, leaving the foxes in the henhouse for several
weeks, so we cannot afford to let our guard down.

Between November 15, 2010 (when recess ends) and Noon on January 03 2011 we
must be prepared to track, fight and negate the nonsense legislation almost
guaranteed introduction during the “lame duck” session in the congress …
and if their track records are any indication, they are very likely to shift
into “last-ditch-effort-mode” to do as much damage as possible before they
leave office. I hope they prove me wrong!

This is where we can put our new representatives to work before they
officially go to work, helping us fight the lame ducks. Basic
reciprocity…we volunteered for them, now they volunteer for us until they
officially take office… then … we continue to hold their feet to the
    fire.

Anyway, Thanks for all your hard work.

    Dave
