Cards for Caring – Collection for Tornado Victims
Our group is asking people to get involved with our Charity for this month Cards for Caring – we are collecting gift cards to send to a church through the 912 project to be given out to the tornado victims. Please pick up a gift card for any amount $10, $50 or more at Walmart, Home Depot etc… even an itunes card to be given to a child. Any amount is appreciated.
Please see the information below from the 912 project web site
For those in groups who want to contribute money, gift cards, gas cards etc it would be appreciated. Monetary donations can be made to http://www.churchofthehighlands.com/relief. An up to date list of needs is posted on this site as well.
The Dream Center of Birmingham, AL. This is a 150,000 square foot warehouse operated in partnership by 25 Alabama churches. They have been delivering food, supplies and manpower to all effected areas, including the small towns, since day 1 of the storm. You can check them out at http://www.churchofthehighlands.com/relief. You can also follow them on Twitter at @BhamDreamCenter. This group was chosen as they are well established and already have the facilities to accept cash and non-cash donations, have an organized process to send out volunteer work groups and has been actively distributing items since only hours after the storm. Best of all, they are NOT a United Nations NGO.
SO PLEASE DONATE – Bring gift cards to meeting on Tuesday night and we will send out our package on Wednesday.
