Trevor Loudon brings a non-US perspective at the February SFL912 Meeting

Valentine’s Day – not exactly a prime night for our group’s meeting.  However we had a good crowd show up at the Lantana Branch of the PBC Library and Jason Shields made sure that the ladies received a flower and the guys got to take one home to their sweethearts, if they were at the meeting alone 😉

Dennis Lipp kicked off the meeting with a little history of South Florida 912, its Values and Principles, and his personal reason for being an involved and informed citizen.  Shannon Armstrong (co-founder) led the Pledge of Allegiance and Doug Armstrong (co-founder) led us in prayer.  Fred Scheibl described changes as a result of redistricting at the federal and state level and pointed out the new sections of the website covering the new districts and the upcoming Elections.

Our keynote speaker,  Trevor Loudon, gave a thought-provoking analysis about the vital role that the United States plays in keeping the world from degenerating into chaos, the changes in New Zealand over the last 20+ years, and an overview of where he thought our current elections were headed.  After his talk, he answered several questions and also offered his books.

Shannon had Marianne Polulack talk a little bit about Glenn Beck’s GBTV and its programming.  Shannon encouraged members to check out the online programming.  Shannon also gave us an update on our upcoming 3rd year anniversary, which will be held at a new McKenna’s location in Lake Worth.  She asked for volunteers as there will be a lot of help needed to make our event a success!  Save the date – March 31st!

Jason ended with the 50/50 and we all went away thinking about what we’d heard from our speaker.  Thanks to Mickey Polulack for setting up his sound-system – always much appreciated.
