Got Principles? We do!
The South Florida 912 is based on 9 principles and 12 values. Please see our previous articles on the 12 values and the first 3 principles. In November we will wrap up the principles as we head into the election. Use these principles and values to lead you in choosing the best candidates that represent you and your principles and values.
1. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson.
This is something my husband and I truly believe in. The success in a family is God First, then your family. We have a duty to do our best by our family and to find balance. To some that may even be an extended family and friends. The security of trust and friendship and love, no matter what… with in the family is SO integral. What are the people you are endorsing or supporting think of the family structure and its importance? This is a real important Principle.
2. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson.
Whew this is a good one and hard even with a child to always follow thru to teach them that there are consequences when they lie or cheat or even steal. So no matter what age no one gets a get out of jail free card. If you are guilty then you must face the consequences. Children face more scaled back punishments like a time out or not going on a shopping trip to the dollar store. However the lessons start young. Leaders who represent us need to be willing to follow the rules just like everyone else.
3. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results. Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson
This is very poignant. To some maybe hard to hear. Thomas Edison once said “”Genius: one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits. Some people are willing to sacrifice and work hard and long days and nights to work on their dreams. Others are happy with where life has taken them. We need leaders who will help pave the way for those that want to work hard. Eliminate all the permits and bureaucracy for small business owners and encourage individuals to start and follow their dreams of business ownership and know that all will not succeed but thru our failures we learn and try again. There are no guarantees of success but the guarantee lies in that we can try again and persue our happiness. Where there is failure there blossoms ideas and success like the light bulb, Kentucky Fried chicken franchise, the post it note, the Ipad or a small business owner.
Principles are an integral piece to who we are. These should also be in obvious in the candidates that your support. Please use these Principles and values as a guide post for who you support in November.
