National Public Vote Compact, NPVC, is the method. The Presidency is the prize.
What a challenging debate Americans are having! The National Popular Vote Compact, NPVC, is the talk of state capitals from Columbus, OH, to Albany, NY, to Austin, TX. Our state legislators are casting critical votes to change our electoral process and, of course, we the people have an important voice in it all.
No wonder we insist on being highly engaged in this decision. From American history we know our electoral system was designed by the Founding Fathers to insure the most careful balance possible of votes and voices for America’s Presidential elections, to protect minority rights while recognizing and empowering the majority.
We are well aware that state by state adoption of the NPVC, also known as the National Popular Vote, NPV, would change the founders’ design for our Constitutional Republic and could circumvent those minority protections from what Alexander Hamilton called the possibility of oppression by the majority. Oh, the talking and debating…the discussions about Constitutional design…the weighing of the pros and cons… a discussion merited by the enormity of the proposed change.
Whoa! Wait just a minute here! Did you say you haven’t heard these debates? Did you say the NPVC is just meaningless alphabet soup to you? The vigorous debate over a change to this so called “direct vote” or democratic vote” didn’t get your attention?
You should know that your state has probably already adopted NPVC or is in the process of doing so.
Of course you didn’t hear this important debate about NPVC only because there is none. The NPVC, or NPV, is sold as harmless and described as a more democratic electoral method to give each American a direct voice in the election of our president. However, in a legal memorandum, Oct 27, 2011, Heritage concludes that:
Consequently, the NPV scheme proposes an interstate compact in which participating states agree in advance to automatically allocate their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, disregarding the popular vote results in their states or what the relevant legislatures might then desire. The NPV would “put the fate of every presidential election in the hands of the voters in as few as 11 states and thus…give a handful of populous states a controlling majority of the Electoral College,” undermining the protections of the Electoral College.
Passage of this insidious compact is very close because 170 of the required 270 votes are from states already signed on. States where NPV is being considered or is close to passing are more than sufficient to implement the NPVC. Then it will apply to the 2012 election and every one after that so that a candidate can be elected by a few of the most populous regions in the USA. Since this is likely to increase the number of third and even fourth party candidates, one could win as little as 30% or 40% of the popular vote and be awarded the necessary 270 electoral votes. We could see European type elections with so many candidates that none has enough support to govern effectively.
Who exactly would benefit from a change in the electoral college system that has worked effectively for so many elections? Who would want to circumvent our founders’ intentions for the most balanced and representative selection of the president? This has been in progress, on a state by state basis, with stealth and steely determination since 2006. Multiple websites push the “Direct Vote” and “NPV” and “Democratic Vote” to create the impression this is truly popular when, in fact, it is being funded and pushed by those with their own political agenda.
The RNC recently voted to condemn this change to our electoral system, but too much damage has been done already. Some conservatives have voted for this and their lack of understanding of the issue is deplorable.
NPVC will bring out the grizzly in many of us who will not stand for deception and the manipulation of our constitutional safeguards. Our first task is to educate ourselves by checking some links here, and then we must alert others. Next, our state representatives must be informed, in no uncertain terms, that we strongly oppose this unconstitutional compact.
Calls, handwritten letters and visits to our state legislators must make it clear that if in process, NPVC must be stopped. If already passed, NPVC must be repealed. If introduced, NPVC must be rejected at once. Any legislator who votes for this does not know the constitution and is not protecting our freedoms.
Also, search on “National Popular Vote” and you will find countless sites advocating this “logical and fair” change to an outdated system. Watch this topic wherever it is posted because immediately someone will post comments insisting the NPVC is a good thing for America. Who is so closely tracking the issue and attacking every negative? Who is so determined NPVC must succeed? What do they have to gain?
In the Federalist Hamilton explains the need to protect the public good and the rights of the minority from the possible oppression by the majority in a “direct democracy” or “popular” vote:
When a majority is included in a faction, the form of popular government, on the other hand, enables it to sacrifice to its ruling passion or interest both the public good and the rights of other citizens. To secure the public good and private rights against the danger of such a faction, and at the same time to preserve the spirit and the form of popular government, is then the great object to which our inquiries are directed.

As a result of the census, reformulation of voting districts are underway from the municipality level up to Congressional districts. Various criteria are used to determine the size and makeup of all of those districts and readjust them based on the changes that occurred in population and demographics over the last 10 years.
This may mean that your current Congressional Representative no longer has a district, or you no longer live in his/her district. It may mean the same for your state Senator or Representative. There are redistricting public hearings in process throughout the state. The sole redistricting meeting for Palm Beach County Citizens will be at FAU Boca Raton on August 16 at 10am.
For the latest information check the calendar with meeting details at on the public hearing schedule. You can RSVP on their calendar, but it isn’t required.
You can use a tool on the same website to create your own districts and see how difficult it is to do at: the Florida Redistricting main website.
Here’s a Post on Politics article on potential impacts locally – both Allen West’s Congressional District 22 and Lizbeth Benacquisto’s Fl Senate District 27 are at risk. (note that the article says the meeting begins at 8am, however the Redistricting website says 10am). Check the redistricting website prior to going for schedule changes.

Many of you who have been in the Patriot Movement since last year at this time will remember that our efforts were instrumental in getting Scott Brown Elected to the Senate in Massachusetts. Today, I believe that we are having another Scott Brown moment that requires your immediate attention and sacrifice.
In case you are not aware, the Public Unions in Wisconsin are attempting to circumvent the legislative process by electing a radical judge to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in an election that will be held in Wisconsin this Tuesday. The incumbent conservative Judge David Prosser was up by 15% and consider an easy win a few weeks ago. Then the Unions started to pour money into a campaign to unseat him. Why? Because this seat will be the deciding vote in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and they are going to try and get rid of Governor Walker’s bill eliminating collective bargaining for state workers by going through the courts, using activist judges. I believe that it is in our best interest as conservatives to do what we can to keep that from happening.
Below you will see an email from the TEA Party Express which is on the ground running ads to fight for Judge Prosser. The race is considered a dead heat going into the weekend. If we can start to bring our resources to bear this today, we can make the difference in this race. I am asking you SEND THIS TO YOUR MEMBERS TODAY and to click the donate link below and give what you can give.
This is important. We can not let the public unions stall the nationwide movement to reign in there power over our government. We have to win this race. I really appreciate your support and ask you to act NOW.

We’re down to just 4 days before the critical election for Wisconsin Supreme Court – an election that will determine whether Gov. Scott Walker and Republican legislators win or if Barack Obama and his union bosses will win.
To further demonstrate how critically important this election is, consider this: Governor Sarah Palin has now gotten involved in the race urging a vote for Conservative Justice David Prosser. Here’s the report from Politico:
FOUR MORE DAYS – PALIN FOR PROSSER: Wisconsin voters go to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in a state Supreme Court race and a Milwaukee County executive election that will test the strength of popular opposition to Republican Gov. Scott Walker. The judicial election is especially important because the state Supreme Court is expected to rule on the legality of the Republican-backed measure to limit collective bargaining for public employees. The latest sign that the election has become nationalized came overnight, when @SarahPalinUSA tweeted support for conservative Justice David Prosser: “Wisconsin, please remember to vote for Justice Prosser on April 5.”
We here at the Tea Party Express are one of the few “conservative” groups running ads in this race. With just 4 days left we are giving it everything we’ve got and have already spent over $100,000 in this campaign.
We must spend much more though to reach all of Wisconsin’s voters and we need your help. Please donate to our Wisconsin State PAC (click on the banner above)
If you can afford a larger contribution of $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more, then please help us.
You can contribute any amount – since this is a State PAC there are NO contribution limits, and corporate contributions ARE accepted.

Again, friends, I can’t find any piece of legislation that Harry Reid may bring before the Senate during this Lame Duck session that has any purpose other than bury America so deeply in tyranny that the next Congress will have no ability to dig us out of it. Also each piece of legislation will contribute, in my opinion, to a an even more rapid and cataclysmic decent economic activity than what is taking place now. This will lead to massive social disorder and chaos that you do not want to experience, but which has plenty of historical precedent. Please take these matters seriously and take action now.
The following piece explains beautifully in four short paragraphs, which I have numbered thru why S.510 must be stopped completely and immediately.
Monday, November 15, 2010 6:54 PM
Dear Friend of Liberty,
A critical cloture vote is scheduled for this Wednesday, November 17, on S. 510, the so-called “Food Safety Modernization Act,” which will open the floodgates for tyrannical federal bureaucrats to crush local producers of healthy food.
The statists in the Senate are banking on us not paying attention after the elections in order to ram another disgusting bill down our throats.
In other words, it will be up to bureaucrats to decide whether or not local food production is decimated by federal regulations or shut down if the FDA has “reason to believe” the food on the premises is contaminated. [The Granting of this kind of ARBITRARY POWER is the HALLMARK OF TYRANNY.]
While family farms face greater scrutiny and increased costs, the government’s Big Agriculture allies will have no problem adjusting to the new rules.
In these tough economic times, S. 510 will drive up the costs of food production by adding more layers of government interference. Like Cap and Tax, which will guarantee higher energy bills, S. 510 will ensure you pay more to meet an essential need.
We know Congress won’t be the one tightening its belt: Section 401 of S. 510 authorizes nearly $1 billion to grow the government’s reach and calls for over 17,000 new bureaucrats to be hired through fiscal year 2014 (just for starters).
The bill also grants blanket authority for federal agencies to impose international guidelines and standards on domestic food producers – giving agencies authority to harmonize all American food production and processes in line with the globalist Codex.
Well-intentioned amendments to this rotten bill are not enough to make it anything other than unconstitutional.
It should be noted that Senators Tom Harkin (D-IA), Mike Enzi (R-WY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Chris Dodd (D-CT), and Richard Burr (R-NC) coordinated to reach a “bipartisan” agreement earlier in the year to forge ahead with the otherwise stalled bill.
If you are a constituent of any of these senators, they especially need to hear from you.
Don’t let the statists empower their Big Agriculture allies and destroy reputable food producers like the independent family farm, where the free market works every day to provide the public with healthy choices.
Click here to get contact information for calling, faxing, and emailing your senators today! Tell them to oppose S.510 on every vote – including cloture.
You’ve stood on corners, waved signs, called and faxed your representatives to try and have an impact. But isn’t the upcoming Election ultimately what it’s all been about? Electing people who understand your positions, listen to you and who will be accountable to you?

I saw this video on facebook it is by the group Citizen’s United who took a major interest in Ed Lynch and the special election a few months ago. It is a powerful video that we should be recognizing. Use this as motivation over the next few weeks and as a reminder of what has happened since the 2008 election.
We need each of you now more than ever! We need help with literature drops. This is not hard work, but we need a lot of help because there is a lot of County to cover and less than 4 weeks to do it! We are not knocking doors, we are only hanging prepackaged bags (with every candidates information) on the doors of those who ONLY VOTE in presidential years. We see a lot of close races and we need these votes to help our candidates secure their victories. This task can virtually be done anytime of day.
I am disturbed that its the same people doing the things that each of you should be doing. I am frustrated at those who refuse to help, and even more upset with those who pledge and then back out. This isn’t a joke, this isn’t a time of “oh well we will get them next time”. This is it! As Allen West so eloquently put it, “This is the fourth quarter”. It’s all or nothing.
So now is the time to put up or shut up. Stop complaining about the government you so deserve and put actions behind your words. This is the time to step out of your comfort zone and do what needs to be done!
We have broken down the County into 5 regions. Each region every weekend starting on Saturday October 16th will be participating in neighborhood walks. There will be two organized shifts every Saturday and Sunday. One from 10-2 and 3-7. If you cannot make that schedule you can drop by any of the three action centers and pick up a precinct to walk on your own.
Please watch the video…
Contact me or the republican party to get involved!

The main stream media is encouraging a civil war between the Tea Party movement and the Republican Party. Republican party members are hand wringing about possible defections of RINOs to the Democrat side in order to save themselves. Republican establishment spokesmen are chastising Tea Party members as being self indulgent and short-sighted. Left and right pundits are predicting the Republicans will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
As we read about McCain, Nelson, Snowe, Collins, etc. …politicians maneuvering to maintain their own political viability….this has been the modus operandi in D C for a long, long time.
Keep in mind, the tea party tsunami, as named by the Wall Street Journal, is washing over D C at this moment. What the new political reality is, has yet to be revealed.
The continued devotion of the American Patriots is the life blood of instituting and maintaining a constitutional, representative legislative branch.
The Patriot groups show no signs of anything except vigorous growth and determination. Their outlook is long term and they have adopted the belief that indeed the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
These groups have had disappointing electoral defeats and satisfying victories. One election cycle is only one step.
The groups are acting, moving, shaking!!! They are educating themselves and the next generation…They are on street corners, in meetings, at fundraisers, sharing knowledge and information. They are supporting members to run for town boards, school boards, state office, and Congress.
As the current politicians navigate the tsunami enveloping them, the course of Americans must be, with or without those particular politicians, ever toward preserving our constitution and our freedoms.

Yes – its short notice. But we need to step up our volunteer efforts for the imminent elections as well as make a strong showing of support for the TAB (Taxpayer Action Board) proposal, and more aggressive spending cuts at the final Palm Beach County Budget Public Hearing on 9/28.
Joe Budd, candidate for Congressional District 19 will be our key candidate speaker – with other candidates to be announced. We’ll also talk about what what we can be doing between our meetup and the 9/28 hearing to be more effective in making our positions on the budget known to the County Commissioners.
You’ve been learning about issues and fighting for your beliefs for the last year and a half – and now is the time to ACT and support your candidates in every way you can. Otherwise, what was the point? Please join us at the meetup!
You must be logged in to join the event.
Funny thing – one of my all time favorite movies is Independence Day. I believe as the day draws nearer to the 4th we need to reflect on where we have been and where we are and where we are headed. We can look at it with two perspectives. First if it keeps on the path that we are headed which bodes disaster or the path that we as Active Americans and 912ers endeavor.
Sometimes people might feel that it is ok to continue on, buy groceries, go to work, church, dinner with friends and ….repeat. It is not! I had dinner with friends on Friday and one of my friends – God Bless her – but she was shocked when I told her ( BTW SHE IS A LIBERAL) that our country is becoming socialist and that there are communist, fascist, progressives in power and she was SHOCKED. She did not believe me; she dismissed me with the comment “like that really worked?”…”Don’t people know history?” Then it was what do you want for dinner? Man it still suprises me that people really don’t understand. No! “people” do not know history and “people” are not paying attention. One of the girls at the table said well according to Mike Moore capitalism isn’t really working either. ( for a second I prayed that God give me patience. ) the conversation continued and even with all the tools I have in my memory banks it led to a heated and exciting conversation. It is uncomfortable. I do not enjoy it all the time, sometimes I just want to have a meal with old friends. We cannot do that anymore. We have to be a little uncomfortable. I thank God for giving me the knowledge and the know how.
There are a lot of candidates from different parties and some that are unaffiliated that are quality, honest candidates. We can educate ourselves on the candidates and back them. We have to. Finances are tight, yea well so are mine. Donate $9.12 to each of the candidates you like and then work on their campaign. That is the ONLY WAY we will win this. I personally am dedicating every Wednesday night thru the Summer and a number of weekends to those quality candidates that I personally support. For the record they are from different parties. I hope to see all of you making calls and getting active. If you need suggestions, and are not sure where to start, check out our web site and the blogs posted by others and the candidates. We also can make calls on our website for candidates. We will have stuff coming up so please stay involved. We are planning a meeting in August and then two in September and October to prepare for the HUGE election. The candidates will be the focus. We must not allow ourselves go down with out a fight. Educate yourselves. Get involved!
We must celebrate OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!
