The HHS Mandate, issued by the The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under Obamacare, forces all employer health plans to include free contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of moral or religious objections. Religious employers like Catholic universities and hospitals will be forced to provide services that directly contradict their teachings.

Last year a number of 912ers gathered together with a group of churches and the city of Greenacres where we helped serve up some yummy food for those in need at Thanksgiving time. We had a terrific time and would love to get even more people involved this year.

Tami Donnally is our contact person and all the details are still being worked out as more info becomes available I will pass it on.

We will need people to help cook the turkeys and then bring them on Wed. night.  Billy hasn’t met with the community people yet, so he’s not sure what they have set up so far…he will let us know if food/desserts/drinks are needed.

They do accept cash donations to help offset the cost of turkeys…

Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, about 5:30 -6pm

Last year my kids and I had a terrific time helping out and hope to see all of you there as well

Project Holiday Charity Collection for November

South Florida 912 Supports Project Holiday

In an effort to support deployed USA military members during the holiday season, the City of Delray Beach, “You Are Not Alone”, the Church of the Palms Congregational and “One Soldier at a Time” have come together to support the 6th Annual Project Holiday. This important Project collects and ships desperately needed items to our military who will not be able to come home for the holidays. The community is encouraged to experience the true spirit of the holiday by contributing to this worthy cause.  Donated items will be accepted at various locations around the City and again at several locations in Boca Raton from October 19 – November 18, 2011.

Examples of needed items are: (travel size preferred): Thermoguard pads (heating pads), holiday decorations – All Faiths, bags of hard, individually wrapped candy (i.e., lifesavers, dollar store hard candy – please no chocolates except for tootsie rolls, tootsie roll pops, charm pops, etc), snacks that can easily be put in their pockets while on duty (i.e., fruit cups, peanut butter crackers, etc), gum, beef jerky, Slim Jim, pepperoni or similar dried meats, boxes of granola bars or similar, individual bags of nuts, dried fruit, trail mix or sunflower seeds, boxed and/or individual drink packets (i.e., Crystal Light, Wal-Mart or Target brand, Kool-Aid, hot chocolate, etc), non-perishable food items, foil packed tuna and chicken, crackers, sun block, lip balm, baby wipes (no bigger than 2½” wide packages), Purell hand sanitizer, hand lotion, batteries (AA or AAA), foot powder, deodorant, toothpaste, socks (white or black knee-hi), nationwide phone cards, disposable cameras, used CD’s, DVD’s (no VHS tapes or cassettes), letters, notes, holiday cards, encouragement cards.

Monetary donations to cover postage costs and to purchase calling cards are also appreciated. Send a check or money order made payable to Project Holiday and mail to: City of Delray Beach, c/o Delores Rangel, 100 NW 1st Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33444.

The Truth About The Separation of Church and State!

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, property, and freedom of worship here.” –Patrick Henry

Last year, a friend of mine who is a pastor of a local church, made me aware of an incident that was eventually reported in the daily newspaper. The incident involved another church in our town, that had been using a community park for church services for many years.

It seemed that one member of the community services advisory board (CSAB) in our town, did not like that a church was sharing the use of a public park. The board member quit in protest, saying she would continue this fight on her own, and would make this situation known to the public. In a letter she wrote, “I am fighting to have the >city honor one of the most hallowed tenets of our democracy: the separation of church and state. Surely this deserves serious attention by the mayor, the City Council and CSAB.”

I have spent years trying to correct this misconception, with employers, my peer group, and other sincere, yet misguided souls. America was founded as a Republic, not a Democracy; and there never was a wall of separation between church and state! So once again, here is the truth about how the myth began…

“O most glorious God, in Jesus Christ… Let me live according to those holy rules which Thou hast this day prescribed in Thy Holy Word. Direct me to the True Object, Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Bless O Lord all the people of this land.” –President George Washington’s prayer

Contrary to popular opinion, the term”separation of church and state” is found nowhere in the United States Constitution. While the First Amendment clearly forbids the creation of a national denomination, it says nothing about the so-called “separation of church and state.”

– The term “separation of church and state” was first used by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1801, when he responded to their concerns about state involvement in religion. Jefferson’s letter had nothing to say about limiting public
religious expression, but dealt with government’s interference in the public expression of faith.

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis – a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with
His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.” – President Thomas Jefferson

– It was U.S. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black who first inserted the term “separation of church and state” into American jurisprudence in his majority opinion of Everson v. Board of Education (1947). He wrote: “The First Amendment has erected a wall between church and state. The wall must be kept high and impregnable. We could not approve the slightest breach.”

– Black’s opinion was based on a previous misreading of Jefferson’s 1801 letter in the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Reynolds v. United States (1878). Black also confused his history. In the opinion, he wrote that the Danbury letter was viewed “almost as an authoritative declaration of the scope and effect of the First Amendment.”

“Religion is the basis and foundation of government. We have staked the whole future of American civilization not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” – President James Madison

– The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion; or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” No mention is made of a “wall between church and state.”

– The true purpose of the First Amendment was to prohibit the federal government from establishing a national church, like the Church of England, or require that sectarian policy be forced on an individual state or on the federal government. While the amendment does recognize a “differentiation between church and the government, it does not mean that they could not cooperate with each other.”

“I nightly offer up my prayers to the throne of grace for the health and safety of you all, and that we ought all to rely with confidence on the promise of our dear Redeemer, and give Him our hearts. This is all He requires and all that we can do, and if we sincerely do this, we are sure of salvation through His atonement.” – President Andrew Jackson

– In 2001, Daniel Dreisbach, Associate Professor of Justice, Law and Society at American University, wrote that Black was wrong to apply the term separation of church and state” to the First Amendment. The danger of Black’s argument, according to Dreisbach, is that it gives constitutional reasons to “separate religion, religious values, and religious organizations from public life.” He continues: “If we can’t talk about religion in any meaningful way in public schools, religious citizens can’t communicate their faith in public life. [The public square] must be ‘sanitized’ of religious messages, and we are
left with a strictly secular public life.”

“The ways of God are mysterious and profound beyond all comprehension. ‘Who by searching can find Him out?’ God only knows the issue of this business. He has destroyed nations from the map of history for their sins. Nevertheless, my hopes prevail generally above my fears for our
Republic. The times are dark, the spirits of ruin are abroad in all their power, and the mercy of God alone can save us. – President Abraham Lincoln

-The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and its allies, along with other groups hostile to religious freedom, have used Black’s wording to:

– Deny churches the right to rent public school facilities for Sunday worship services.

– Have public displays of the Ten Commandments removed from public buildings.

– Prohibit students from praying at graduation ceremonies or football games.

– Threaten fixed income housing project residents with eviction for displaying signs about prayer in their apartment windows.

– Tell an eight-year-old girl that she cannot pass out handmade Valentines that read “Jesus Loves You.”

“All must admit that the reception of the teachings of Christ results in the purist patriotism, in the most scrupulous fidelity to public trust, and in the best type of citizenship.” – President Grover Cleveland

-In 2005, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in ruling in favor of a public display of the Ten Commandments, wrote: “The ACLU’s argument contains…fundamental flaws… [It] makes repeated reference to ‘the separation of church and state.’ This extra-constitutional construct has grown tiresome. The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state.”

“America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of the Holy Scriptures.” – President Woodrow Wilson

– For almost four decades, the ACLU’s distortion of the “separation of church and state” went nearly unchallenged. In 1994, God raised up a new organization, the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), which has taken the ACLU and its allies head-on to expose this distortion and restore the original intent of U.S. Constitution with regard to religious freedom. Since its inception, ADF has helped to win many groundbreaking cases in defense of religious freedom and expression. The result is that the so-called “wall of separation” erected by Hugo Black and others is slowly starting to crumble!

“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first – the most
basic – expression of Americanism. Thus, the founding fathers of America saw it, and thus With God’s help, it will continue to be.” – President Dwight Eisenhower

One Nation Under God U.S.A. donates one dollar, per membership, each year, to the ADF. We also encourage our members, alliance partners, and friends to regularly pray for and support the ADF and other similar organizations which help provide strategy, training, funding, and litigation needed to tear down any remaining “walls of separation.”

Now you too, know the truth behind the myth, used by our enemies to take the word of God out of American culture. There can never be a Strong, Free, and Prosperous America without God.

The task ahead of us is never greater than the Power behind us. We Can restore America, and with the help of Almighty God, we will!
