Florida House district 84 is currently held by Mackenson (Mack) Bernard (D) who won his seat in a special election in August 2009 to fill the seat vacated by Pricilla Taylor who resigned to fill an appointment on the County Commission. He defeated Democrat Cedrick Thomas in the low turn-out primary contest, winning 59% of the 1180 (< 5%) votes cast.
